Truancy Law: Another Right Taken Away!
What has happened to the America we once knew?
I have to ask this question a lot lately. Land of the free? What does that now mean in 2013? What freedoms do we still posses? Where is our voice in the choices that are made by our legislation? We have no voice!
Basically a Right to me in 2013 is simply placed below.
-----If the legislation likes what you also like, then by all means you have a right to do that certain activity.
-----If the legislation "Does Not" like what you as an individual American likes they will pass a Law against it. So you can do it, but your going to suffer the wrath of the almighty police officers. "The worlds largest and most powerful gang!"
Do you see the injustice? Just because you like to bungee jump off of a cliff side and I don't particularly like to, I will make a law so that you can no longer enjoy it. I will state that it is for the safety of our American people and that will be that! Even though, the only American life that is in jeopardy is that of your own.
My Story
This all started today when I received a letter that my B, C student child had missed 11 days this year, and now I am forced to halt my daily life on May, 7th, 2013 to have a meeting with the Truancy Officer at her school. If this meeting is missed, or not rescheduled, our case will be turned over to the D.A. for further punishment.
My daughter would not miss school even when my wife offered for her to miss on her birthday. My daughter has had numerous offers from colleges that wish for her to attend their schools.
My daughter has various back issues, cyst on her ovaries that have erupted. She had just had four wisdom teeth pulled. Not to mention a couple days with a pretty messy stomach flu.
The school knows of her medical conditions. Even to the point they gave her an excuse from any activities in P.E.. Also a pass to skip line during lunch so she would not have to suffer standing in line.
My wife and I are on a one person income at this time. We have one running vehicle at this time. My daughters doctor is located 35 minutes away, but it takes a hour one way due to over population and traffic. We do not have the means at this time to run to her doctor if she sneezes, or coughs, or is in pain from her back or cyst. The doctor has even told us their is nothing he can do but prescribe pain medicine to help relieve the pain.
We will not jeopardize other children's well being by sending one of our children to school with the flu. We cannot go across town just for a note from the doctor so my child, nor ourselves will be penalized by the overwhelming laws set forth by our government.
So what do we do?
My son was sent home for 5 days, and banned from school for making a outlandish comment about hurting "himself" after being bullied for 3 years at his school. His comment was made out of anger and frustration. Being that he had informed every grown up at the school about the bully's and nothing was ever done to stop it. The school counselor could see it, my wife could see it, I could see it, but they still sent him home until his doctor could evaluate, and release my son to go back to school.
Make sense?
One school is threatening us with jail for our daughter missing 11 days. All while another school is keeping our son from school for 5 days for making a foolish comment about hurting "himself". Not other children, not meaning anything coming out of his mouth. But banned for 5 days.
Should we call a truancy officer and report the school?
Our rights are being striped ever day. I am a very firm believer in a good education being a drop out myself. I wish for my children to never go through what myself, or my wife has been through in our lives. My wife had my step daughter at age 17 and she too had to drop out in 12th grade. Her mother forced her into a preternity home and my wife never went back to school until 2007 finishing her GED.
We are not bad people. We do not go out, get drunk and drive, rob people. We are home body, simple, quiet people, yet we are faced with threats from a truancy officer and the D.A.?
Sound fair?
You cannot drive your car, walk down the street without Big Brother watching you. You probably have cameras in your back yard and never know it until someone is in your one bathroom and you go take a whiz in the back yard. Only to find 10 police officers in your front yard with guns drawn, ordering you to get on the ground, and your under arrest for indecent exposure. All in the name of Homeland Security aka, Invasion of Privacy!
I have had it! It is time for us to unite and let it be known that we are not scared of "terrorists" so the government can no longer scare us into 24hr surveillance. You have a better chance of getting struck by lightening than a terrorist showing up at your home and killing you.
If I want my children to grow up with the IQ of Homer Simpson, that should be my right! I don't see any Social Service people up in the oak trees telling squirle's how to raise their young. Why should they be able to tell us? Let nature run it's course.
I do agree with the law stepping in if it is life threatening. If a child is being abused. If, and I mean "IF" they have clear evidence of it. Not little Johnny getting mad at his father, running to the school counselor and making outrageous statements, and the nurse, police, nor Social Services can find any markings on the child, anywhere.
But, this does happen often. The sad part is, just because little Johnny lashed out at his family, he will probably be removed from his home for a month until Social Services can "investigate" the situation.
"What is their to investigate on a open and shut case?"
The parents will also have Social Services invade their privacy for 6 months to a year or more now. All over what could clearly be seen as a out of control child lashing out at his parents.
This is not a way to end a blog I am sure, but I just need to vent, so basically this is not really a blog, but I would like to hear some other stories, and responses.
This is getting out of hand. I know this much. Pretty soon the only right we will have is getting to keep our lights on in our home until 10pm instead of 9pm.
Thanks for reading and letting me vent.
